Craighead County Homemakers Extension Council Scholarship

Members of the Craighead County Extension Homemakers Council provided a gift to Arkansas State University to support a general scholarship for EHC members, their children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren. The Craighead County EHC began as the Craighead County Home Demonstration Council sometime between 1916 and 1918, when the first Home Demonstration Agent, Lelia Culberhouse, organized a group of women who came to Jonesboro on Saturdays to sell farm products at a curb market. Through the years the focus of EHC has shifted, and since the 1970s, councils have concentrated on delivering educational programs throughout Craighead County communities.
