George A. Berger Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Berger who died on Tuesday, April 16, 2002. Dr. Berger served as dean of the Agriculture and Engineering Department at ASU from 1974-80. A licensed plant breeder and plant geneticist, Dr. Berger founded Eagle Seed Company in Weiner, AR, which conducted soybean breeding research and licensed several commercial varieties of soybean seed. He was an officer in the National Guard and the Army Reserve and earned his bachelor’s degree from Arkansas State University, a master’s degree from the University of Arkansas and a doctorate from the University of Missouri.
