Jake West Memorial Scholarship

Jake West was a bright, up and coming theater major at Arkansas State University who died as the result of a car crash in 2005 while on his way to the final dress rehearsal for the play “The Elves and the Shoemaker”. Jake was a sophomore theater major at Arkansas State University, he attended Nettleton High School, where he was a member of Beta Club, National Honor Society, Thespian Society, Drama Club and Spanish Club. His theater background included roles in The Softhearted Ghost, The Valentine Play, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Our Town, Pocahontas, Summer Stage, Footloose, Yankee Doodle Dandy: George M!, CUT! and Pippin. He was a past member of the Arkansas Governor’s School Drama Program. Most recently, he had been a member of the cast of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” and “Anything Goes,” presented by the Arkansas State University Theater Department. This scholarship was established by friends and family of Jake and is designated for students majoring in Theatre at Arkansas State University.
