Joe McAlister Cache River Valley Seed Scholarship

The scholarship you are receiving was established in 2004 by Randy Woodard and Cache River Valley Seed, LLC in honor of Randy’s father-in-law, Joe McAlister, who founded the company in 1961. The family-owned agriculture business, which was first known as McAlister Seed Service, was established by J.E. McAlister and L.E. McAlister. The McAlister’s purchased the rice mill located at Cash, Arkansas and converted it to a new seed processing and storage plant. In 1972, J.E. McAlister became sole owner of the business and changed the name to Cache River Valley Development Corp. His son-in-law Randy Woodard joined the firm in 1973 as a partner and together they continued to grow the company. In 1997, the company name was changed to Cache River Valley Seed, LLC.
