Michael Medlock Scholarship

The scholarship you are receiving was established in 2000 by Insurance Network, now known as BancorpSouth Insurance Services of Arkansas. Through this scholarship, they wanted to provide assistance to students majoring in banking, finance or insurance at Arkansas State University. The scholarship was re-named in memory of Michael E. Medlock who died on October 28, 2009. A prominent businessman throughout Northeast Arkansas, Mr. Medlock served as the president of Insurance Network. He also served on the ASU Board of Trustee and he was the tax liaison to the Governmental Affairs Committee of Independent Insurance Agents of America. He was past chair of the Greater Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce Board, and he was a past chair of the Jonesboro Municipal Airport Commission. He was also a member of the Jonesboro Industrial Development Corporation Board. Medlock was a 1968 graduate of Little Rock Central High School, and he received a Bachelor of Science degree in business management in 1973 from Arkansas State University-Jonesboro, where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.
