Olen P. Nail Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established by family, friends and former students in memory of Dr. Olen P. Nail, who served as dean of the College of Agriculture from 1953 to 1975. A native of Choctaw County, Miss., Dr. Nail received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Mississippi State University, and earned his doctorate at Louisiana State University. He was a World War II veteran, and was awarded the Purple Heart. Before coming to Arkansas State, he taught at Auburn University in Alabama. Dr. Nail was admired and respected by students and colleagues alike. He was known for shunning the limelight, focusing instead on the attributes and accomplishments of his students and fellow faculty members. He tirelessly worked with the Future Farmers of America and the Arkansas Beekeepers Association.
