Maxine and Jesse B. Gregg Scholarship

Mrs. Maxine Gregg established this scholarship in 1988 to help deserving students. The scholarship is named for Mrs. Gregg, who died in 2004, and her late husband, Jesse B. Gregg, who died in 1974.
Mrs. Gregg was a longtime support of Arkansas State University through gifts to the athletic program as well as the Arkansas State University Museum. Gregg Funeral Home was founded in 1877 by Mr. Gregg’s grandfather and namesake. The second Jessie B. Gregg assumed control of the funeral home following the deaths of his father, James A. Gregg in 1934, and his brother, James T. Gregg in 1937. Following the death of her husband, Mr. Jesse B. Gregg, Mrs. Gregg became sole owner of the business in 1974. Mrs. Gregg established this scholarship to assist non-traditional, single parent students in providing financial assistance beyond the support that can be provided by family, governmental or other forms of assistance.
