He moved to Arkansas sometime around 1915, residing first in Marmaduke and later in Paragould. His early business years were spent in Marmaduke, where he operated the Farmers Mercantile Company and engaged in general farming operations in Northeast Arkansas and Southeast Missouri. While in Marmaduke, he was also engaged in cotton ginning and livestock operations. Upon moving to Paragould during World War II, he was a partner in and operated the Ford automobile agency and a tractor agency until the late 1950s. It was Mr. Lipscomb?s wish to improve living conditions of people in the Marmaduke and Paragould trade areas where he conducted his business activities. When Mr. Lipscomb died in 1969, he left funds that established the scholarship you are receiving.
