Mid-South Sales Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship was established to assist A-State students with their educational costs. MSS believes in giving back to the community that has helped their business nurture over the years.

Mid-South Sales (MSS) began as a small business in 1947, supplying farmers with fuel, tires, batteries, and other automotive and tractor accessories from a bulk plant in Helena, AR. What began as a regional wholesale oil and fuel distributor has grown into one of the largest privately-owned oil companies in Arkansas. With their headquarters in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and seven other locations across the state, MSS now sells gasoline, diesel, and aviation fuel, as well as lubricants including hydraulic fluids, motor oils, gear lubricants, and greases, to customers across a wide variety of industries. Mid-South Sales has been a family business for more than 65 years. M.O. Rasberry, the founder of Mid-South Sales, was a multi-state tire salesman before starting MSS. 1976, Rasberry sold Mid-South Sales to his son-in-law, Bill Benton. As President for more than 35 years, Bill helped grow Mid-South Sales and now, his son, Murray Benton, is the president, and Murray Benton?s son, Murray Benton Jr., has joined as the fourth generation involved in the business. Murray Benton has led the company?s change in focus, selling the retail side of the company and focusing on the expansion of its wholesale work.
