ASU Staplcotn Congressional Internship

Staplcotn is very active in the world cotton trade. In the U.S. textile industry, Staplcotn annually supplies over one quarter of the cotton consumed. Additionally, textile mills from all over the world have become reliant upon Staplcotn as their source for Memphis/Eastern cotton.

Traditionally, the Memphis/Eastern crop produces various qualities in terms of grade, leaf, staple micronaire and strength. This makes the cotton from our region attractive because it offers the world?s textile industry flexibility in their purchasing. Whether you are a ring spinner making 30-40 counts in China who requires Middling 1 3/32 and longer staple or an open end spinner in Turkey who needs Strict Low Middling 1 1/16, chances are you can find your desired cotton in the Memphis/Eastern territory.

Staple Cotton Cooperative (Staplcotn) established this scholarship to provide students in the college of Agriculture (CoAG) the opportunity to participate in an interneship in the Washington D.C. office of Congressman Rick Crawford.
