Shelby Rhodes Honors Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established in honor of Shelby Rhodes by her parents Roy and Vickie Rhodes along with her aunt and uncle, Mary and Bobby Bradshaw. Many other friends, classmates, instructors and staff contributed as well.
Shelby was a biology major, and about to start her senior year at A-State when she died in an automobile accident just outside of her hometown of Sheridan, Arkansas. Among her campus activities, she was president of the Honors College Association. An A-State Scholar, Shelby had studied abroad in Costa Rica and participated in the Honors World War II study abroad experience in 2015. She also was an Honors Ambassador, a College of Sciences & Mathematics Ambassador, and member of Women in STEM.
Rhodes, who was to graduate in May 2018, was on track to earn top distinction from the Honors College and was awarded a degree posthumously along with a gold Honors medallion during the spring 2018 commencement.
